As part of its renovation of historic Stanley Field Hall in 2018, the Field Museum commissioned Daniel Pouzet to transform the iconic white marble cavern into an immersive living environment for the numerous colossal dinosaurs recently added to the institution’s already sizable collection.

The resulting design comprised four cloud-like hanging gardens filled with a wide variety of living plants. Each of the clouds includes complex integral systems for irrigation, lighting, sound, and fog, as well as a dynamic suspension that allows the clouds to be lowered and reconfigured as canopy elements for the hall’s numerous evening events. In the spirit of Pouzet’s shared environmental inspiration and consciousness, Branch utilized a custom-formulated bioplastic to fabricate the clouds’ extensive population of modular planters.
